While hiking from Nagarkot, you stop at Changu Narayan temple. This temple is part of UNESCO world heritage sites and is believed to have been built in the 4th century. It is a two-story pagoda-style temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Changu Narayan Temple is one of the oldest temples of Nepal, where you get to see the finest carvings and a fascinating collection of ancient statues.

Itinerary

You drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal in the morning at about 8:00 am from your hotel in Kathmandu. The drive is about an hour, then the hiking starts with a walk on the stairs that lead to Shivapuri National Park.

Upon reaching the entrance of the national park, you see well-defined boards that mark the way to Chisapani. Passing by a beautiful waterfall and watershed, you trek through Tamang villages and reach Mulkarka. The trail then goes through dense forest and takes you to Chisapani.

After breakfast at the lodge, you start the trek towards Nagarkot. The trail slowly ascends and takes you to Chauki Bhanjyang, where you take a short break to have lunch.

The trail continues offering wonderful views of the Himalaya range, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west past Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east. After reaching Nagarkot, you rest and explore the area. In the evening, you will see gorgeous sunset views over the Himalayas.

You wake up early to see an amazing sunrise along with Himalayan panorama. You then have breakfast, and then hike for a couple of hours to reach the holy Changu Narayan temple.

It is a very ancient and artistic temple of Nepal. You then take a short lunch break and drive back to Kathmandu.
